La Strada del Vino in Val Cornia

The Wine Route in Val Cornia

Along part of the Wine and Oil Road of the Val Cornia, among the hills, the ancient villages and the sea you can visit places full of charm, producers of renowned wines and precious extra virgin olive oil.

The territory is very similar to that of the Island of Elba, at land and typology level, this allows an important advantage for the quality of the wine which is enriched with flavors thanks to the great concentration of minerals present in the soil.

It starts from Campiglia Marittima, a medieval village with Etruscan origins, famous for its wine and its extra-virgin olive oil. Also famous is the schiacciata Campigliese, which is paired with the sweet wines produced in Val Cornia.

There are several farms that allow tastings and guided tours to discover its wines such as Val Cornia DOC White and Red.

Continuing you reach Suvereto, one of the most important areas for wines. Here too there are numerous wineries that will allow you to taste the fine wines of the area. The ancient link that this village has with wine can also be seen from its traditions; the Palio di Suvereto, in fact, provides that the competitors push for the old town a large barrel of wine.

Continuing towards the sea we meet Piombino where, in recent years, a particular vocation has been discovered for the production of wines. Wine excellent also to accompany the fresh fish dishes typical of the area.

Throughout the territory covered by the Wine and Oil Road of Val Cornia you can meet winegrowing farms that will allow you to taste the fine wines produced in the area combined with typical products.
